Sunflower

by Emma Coppola

ARTIST’S STATEMENT: The inspiration for Sunflower arose from the absence of yellow and sunlight we all experience during the long, dreadful months of winter. I wanted to create something that shot color. I chose a sunflower as an analogy for sunlight and spring feelings. It’s a flower you only come across during colorful times of year, times that we all yearn for.

When everyone comes outside to enjoy the warm weather once winter passes and spring welcomes itself into the year. When we notice those sprouting plants that say hello after their absence during hibernation in winter.
